Good Morning Parents,
Last night we were informed that an individual has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is currently in isolation, and following Public Health Guidance. The individual was last on campus on Friday, Dec. 4th. Due to privacy laws, information regarding the individual cannot be released.
We have contacted the San Diego County Public Health Department, as well as individuals who have been in close contact. Following our Return to School Plan, we have advised all persons in close contact (close contact is 15 minutes in a 24 hour period) to quarantine for the 14-days from the last contact.
Anyone experiencing symptoms should self-isolate and contact their doctor. Symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. Those symptoms can range from mild to severe and could include fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills without a fever, sore throat, muscle aches, and pains, and temporary loss of smell or taste.
At this time, there is no future action that needs to be taken. However, since this information was shared late last night we will wait to confirm with the County Department of Health for further guidance. We will continue to encourage all students and staff to follow all guidance to keep our campus safe, this includes wearing masks, physical distancing, regular cleaning and disinfecting, and washing hands.
I would like to encourage families to continue to talk with your children about healthy practices, and model for them wearing face coverings, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning hands and surfaces often, and avoiding contact with anyone who may be ill.
I know that this information can be concerning. I assure you that we are dedicated to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff, as we follow the guidelines from the state and county along with our public health department. We thank you for your support as we continue to provide a quality educational experience in this changing environment.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
